Frequently Asked Questions

Localsafe destroys weeds  similar to a heavy frost, by quickly breaking down the cells of the plant, or in the way an extreme heat wave will burn plants by degrading the protective film (fatty acids) causing total dehydration.

One active ingredient dissolves the fatty acids of the plant leaf while the other active ingredient being volatile quickly draws the moisture from the plant into the air.

This allows the weeds to be sprayed during the day when die off occurs quickly or when sprayed at night the volatile ingredient becomes active under the influence of UV light the following day.

The product being a highly effective desiccant, not a systemic poison, plants are unable to create an immunity, just as they can’t become immune to a frost or high temperature heat wave.

Glyphosate is a chemical used in many well known weed killers currently in use in the agricultural sector by councils and available through hardware stores, home centres, garden suppliers and super markets.

In 2015 following research of the impact of glyphosate the World Health Organisation declared glyphosate as probably carcinogenic. Probably carcinogenic means that there is strong evidence that it can cause cancer in humans, but at present it is not conclusive.
